Natural gas initiative could fuel cars
the four corners area is a big producer of natural gas. and now one man is pushing the use of natural gas to area businesses — not only to help the local economy… but to also make for a greener environment. erisa nakano is live in farmington to explain. aztec business owner joe williams says — instead of using foreign oil — local businesses can use their own product to fuel their own fleets. while the idea wouldn’t be cheap — williams says it would pay off in the long run. “we’re doing the right thing for america, using local, abundant, resourceful gas.” joe williams — owner of hydro-pure in azte– wants neighboring businesses to use natural gas in a new way: fuel vehicles. without the financial backing of local businesses — the vision can’t become reality.

06:39 pm “first of all, building support within our local natural gas community that this would be a positive step in utilizing local resources first.” it’s an idea that some local business owners say they like — but — it’s not that easy. “when you’re talking about compressed natural gas, the biggest obstacle is infrastructure, having the places to refill your vehicle with natural gas.” vehicles would also need to be converted to natural gas use. for example — a pickup truck could cost about 10-thousand dollars to convert. but williams says it can pay off — with a long-term commitment. “we take the state of new mexico tax credits, which are somewhat less, but they’re there nonetheless to support it, and we take a look at the cost of savings per gallon. if we look at those things, we can pay for it within 2.5 years.” williams says fueling vehicles with natural gas costs 60 cents per unit less than a gallon of gasoline. reporting live in farmington, erisa nakano, eyewitness news 4

How will crude oil and natural gas prices behave for the rest of 2009?
I am new in the stock market and would appreciate any opinions.
oil is ridiculous and the economy is still a mess. Oil speculators are again driving the price up inflatedly. I expect oil to hover between 50-70$ a gallon, which I believe is fair price. The price at the pump (ie California) should remain under 2.50 which would require the barrel price to be at about 60. Thats is a fair price, of which OPEC members still make money (contrary to news and those countries leaders). Its just places like Iran and Venezuela has OIL as their main source of income, and their bloated defense and antagonistic spending is fueled by that. Seriously the midwest SHOULD be around 2.00-2.25$/gal and where I live in CA where its always more expesnive should be at or around 2.50
But if oil speculators keep up their manipulation we could head to around $100/gal and then another crash and complaints from OPEC.
When Will Obama Require Cars in California to Run on Natural Gas or Solar to "Create Jobs"?
California has a major pollution problem.
Wouldn’t it be good for the state to require everyone’s car to run on natural gas or solar?
Obama says these things create jobs and make us all wealthier. Right?
It could work, but you need the money to create such jobs and industries to do. We just need to stop spending the money on those stupid corporations that wasted their money and use it to at least fund the idea.
What are the advantages and idsadvantages of natural gas?
Best answer gets 10 points!!
Pros: burns clean producing only CO2 and H2O
easy to transport in pipeline
can be made from biomass, garbage, manure, seaweed
can be compressed to form CNG
Cons: expolsive
you can not see the flame if adjusted correctly
odor must be added to smell a leak
limited supply
did liberals hide the fact that removing the oil and natural gas from the earth is causing the earth …?
Big D…..then why is there far less volcanic activity in the last 100 years?
to cool and burning the Fuel is causing the atmosphere around the earth to heat up?
Are you suggesting that releasing gasses from pressure causes them to cool? that is true, but not NEARLY enough to offset the heat production of combustion and the greenhouse effect.
Why does the Federal Government not require that the vehicles that it buys be able to run on natural gas?
Honda produces an automobile that runs on both natural gas and gasoline. It just takes the flip of a switch on the dashboard to convert it from one fuel to the other.
Ford produced a Crown Victoria Sedan that could run on both natural gas or gasoline. There was a switch on the dashboard to switch from one fuel to the other.
Ford cancelled the natural gas option on it’s new vehicles in 2004.
Natural gas is produced domestically in The United States of America. The United States of America has enormous reserves of natural gas. The natural gas reserves of The United States of America are much larger than the oil reserves.
The price of Natural gas is less than half the price of gasoline for the same energy content.
You can also buy a compressor that connects to the natural gas line at your home. the compressor will compress natural gas from the gas liine in your home to fill the tanks on the car. Again the cost is less than half the cost of gasoline for the same energy content.
With natural gas and the compressor, you can fuel your car at home. You do not even have to go to a gas station.
This would dramatically cut the cost of the Federal Government for fuel for the millions of government vehicles.
If the government required that manufaturers provide to the general public vehicles that can run on both natural gas and gasoline, we would dramatically reduce the need for imported oil.
We would not only save large amounts of money on our fuel costs, but also natural gas vehicles are much cleaner and produce much less pollution than gasoline powered vehicles.
Also this would reduce the demand for gasoline and imported oil. the reduction iin demand would force gasoline prices down and would reduce imports of oil.
The reduction in imports of oil would help our balance of payments and our economy and would also reduce the flow of money to The Muslim Terrorists who are financed by the Middle Eastern oil exporting Nations.
Why will the Obama administration not consider this option?
To DAR:
Merely because natural gas is not a renewable resource is not a reason not to use it instead of gasoline which also is not a renewable resource.
We do not have anywhere near enough renewable resources to make fuel for the vehicles that Americans Drive.
Is it your position that we must destroy Americans.by the use of high gasoline prices because we do not have enough renewable resources for automobile fuel?
Is it our position that we must destroy our balance of payments and ruin our economy with imported oil because we do not have enough renewable sources for automobile fuel?
Is it your position that we must send money to The Middle East that is used to support Muslim Terrorists because we do not have sufficient sources of renewable energy?
Also, one way to use agricultural waste is to convert it into Natural Gas. Would not a sensible use of that Natural Gas from agricultural waste be as a fuel for motor vehicles?
To Messy Katttt:
Yes the Radical Extreme Left hates normal Middle Class people and wants to make their lives as difficult and unpleasant as possible.
We have nitwits like John Edwards who owns a huge mansion that uses more energy than ten normal middle class famies would ever use.
John Edwards of all people has the nerve to lecture and insult the rest of use about our use of energy.
Normal Middle class families must drive automobiles to get to and from work, take the children to school and shop for food.
The Radical Extreme Left wants to jack up the costs so high that most Mildde Class families will be destroyed by the ridiculous costs of energy.
The Radical Extreme Left does not want Normal Middle Class families to be able to have normal lives.
The Radical Extreme Left wants to drive the normal Middle Class into extreme poverty and dependency.
Unfortunately the Obama adminsitration is dominated by Radical Extreme Leftists.
I see two separate issues here. The big one is that the government is no longer by, of, and for the people. There are all sorts of laws (starting with employment) where the government tells the private sector what to do, but is exempt in many areas from its own policies. This isn’t political; it’s more fundamental.
Secondly, and I see this throughout the discourse on reliance on oil/climate change issues, it can be difficult to ascertain just how serious people view the situation and how willing they are to adapt it to their own lives. Remember John Edwards yapping about carbon footprints last year and then the next day the story broke about his TWENTY EIGHT thousand square foot estate he was building? His campaign website had been promoting a little banner about "what you can do in your community" to save the planet. It disappeared not long after this story broke for reasons that are obvious.
There’s no ethics in any of it. It’s about power and money. And it transcends political parties.
The benefits of having natural gas in your home.
