PostHeaderIcon Gas broiler vs electric broiler?

Im buying a new stove. We have natural gas, but I see there are new stoves that have gas ovens, yet they also have an electric element for broiling. I was always under the impression that real fire was better for cooking.

What are the advantages of having one of these hybrid ovens? The guy at the store told me "professional cooks prefer electric broilers" which of course sounds like a lie just to get me to buy the oven.

Any thoughts?

I LOVE GAS BROILER

While I’m not "professional" I have tried both and I prefer gas. I’ve worked in several kitchens and have never once seen an electric broiler. Always a gas salamander.

I like my gas broiler it the heat is more even so your broiler works better. Plus it’s works a lot faster than electric.

To me, an eletric stove seems to work better. Gas stoves can catch on fire more often. but it really just depends on the viewers point.
