PostHeaderIcon Natural Gas Space Heater or Electric Baseboard Heaters?

I’ve got a 4BR apartment in New York City. Rooms are about 100-130 sq ft each with a common area of about 250 sq ft. In terms of installation costs, energy costs, and actual effectiveness, what are the advantages/disadvantages of either putting in a giant natural gas space heater (like 100k BTU’s, something for around $750) in the main area, or installing baseboard heating in each of the rooms and main area?
Each of the rooms would probably be used a good deal, as this is an apartment I’m renting out to people. I don’t own either, just subleasing, and I am aware the owner is required to provide heat because it’s NY law, it’s a long story…

depends how efficient the space heater is and the cost of gas. if it will heat your entire apt id consider that. i have baseboard heaters in my house (small 4br apt type house) and its cheaper to buy and install them vs a gas heater, but… my electric bill isnt. I had to install separate thermostats on each room to try and keep costs down. even with shutting off the bedroooms.. my electric bill runs anywhere from 150-200 each month. and thats only heating up to 70 deg in one room 24/7 (living room day & bedroom night). i dont have natural gas access in my neighborhood unfortunately…if i did or they finally install the main, i may switch to one of those large wall mount gas heaters.

PostHeaderIcon How to compare Petrol with CNG(compressed natural gas)?

Advantages/disadvantages of CNG over Petol(gasoline) with respect to power, safety.maintenance cost etc etc.

From what I’ve read about cng, you shouldn’t notice much of a difference in power, no major safety issues, less maintenance than gas because it burns much cleaner, and it’s much cheaper to fill up (if you’re converting a gas powered car to cng, the initial cost will be a few thousand dollars). One issue if you’re converting is that the tank for cng will take up most of the trunk or possibly even some of the back seat depending on the size. As far as I know, Honda is the only company that has a production cng car.

PostHeaderIcon How can I turn an unlimited amount of free electricity and or natural gas into cash? Any ideas?

I find myself with an unlimited amount of free electricity and natural gas and am in need of some extra cash. I need ideas of things I can make or do with this advantage in life.

set up a store that sells natural gas at uncompetitive low rates.
free electricity- either sell it back to the grid and the electric company will a have pay you for it, or start you’re own grid and let people to buy into it, selling it at again, uncompetitive low rates.

you can also sell this free unlimited electricity in a form of a battery to the DoD, which today American soldier’s most important equipment still runs on unreliable, limited supply batteries.

sell your free electric power to Pres. Obama. He’s so green he may put solar panels on the roof of the white house. Pres. Obama will make you a rich person.

sell nat. gas to anyone who needs it, do it our of US jurisdiction and unrelated to the US. so if you supply gas to America’s enemy you won’t have problems.
