PostHeaderIcon Green Wheels: Eco-Fueler

http://voom.tv/equatorhd/greenwheels
More and more vehicles are filling up on compressed natural gas, or CNG, and we’ll explore two innovative ways this fuel is being used. First stop is a trip to the Eco-Fueler factory in
Eugene, Florida to check out the American Roadsterâ„¢ CNG, a 70-mile per gallon vehicle that runs on compressed
natural gas. There’s currently a four-month waiting list to get a Roadster but we’ll get the inside scoop when we visit the factory to see the car made from start to finish. Second stop is Puente Hills landfill, the largest landfill in the U.S. They’re processing the landfill’s gaseous emissions into usable CNG for vehicle use. The facility can dispense approximately 200,000 gasoline gallon equivalent units of CNG fuel to
local customers. And it has replaced 120 of its own vehicles with CNG powered equipment. It’s a new world and alternative energy is finding its place in all aspects of life.

PostHeaderIcon What are electric engine cars and do they use natural gas?

——————-
Electric cars are powered by batteries that can be charged at home, by plugging into the electric outlet. Since a significant portion of our electricity is created by burning natural gas, yes, you could say that electric cars use natural gas.
*
They also use power generated by coal, nuclear fission, windmills, water power, and solar cells. In fact, the electric car is the ultimate flex-fuel vehicle. Any fuel or power source can be used to generate electricity and power an electric car. In fact, the extremely high efficiency of electric motors, battery power storage, and electric power transmission makes the electric vehicle the most efficient way to use these power sources for transportation.

PostHeaderIcon useing hho gas instead of natural gas for cars that run on natural gas?

they have cars that run on natural gas. would it work if you filled it with hho gas?
of and which is more flammable?

You cant control HHO gas like natural gas. HHO moves to fast for today’s technology. They haven’t developed a safe way to store hho either It has to be on demand system. But then you get into few more problems too. The problems are fixable. I know that by the end of this year we will have hho units that can run a vehicle on hho gas alone.

PostHeaderIcon Are natural gas and Hydrogen cars considered Green cars?

It depends upon who you are asking.

If by "green" you mean a product that does no harm to the environment in its operation then you might have a reasonably good argument when comparing the vehicle to a gasoline engine vehicle, but not when you compare it to a purely electric car. In current days emphasis "green" is confused with low or no CO2 content. Something can produce no CO2 and still be horrible for the environment.

Hydrogen is most economically derived from oil and natural gas. The refining process uses up huge amounts of power and is not particularly efficient. If the fuel is burned in the vehicle there will be polluting by products and an internal combustion engine is typically no more than 15% efficient at the wheels. Having to produce extra fuel to cover all that inefficiency means even more pollution at the refinery.

If by "green" you are considering all that goes into making the vehicle in the first place they you are going to be in a difficult position with any product of a modern industrial society.
