Oil and Natural Gas prices leaped today, will they continue to trend upward?

The API numbers Wednesday showed an unexpected build.

I know. I saw that too. Wasn’t expecting that at all. All I can say is that if the US continues to slide toward recession, I expect crude oil prices to move down, over time. Why? Because demand will lessen here and probably around the world.

Disvantage: Oil, running out of resource, more expensive, create more hazard substance, air pollution

advantage: can be used in more things, such as gasloline, fuel, etc

advantage: Natural Gas: more environment friendly, cheaper,
disadvantage: can’t refined more than Oil, not as energy efficient

Our fireplace (natural gas) seems to only have blue flames, no orange. It looks horrible. Any suggestions?

We have had the gas company here and he says that the fireplace is just very efficeint and that is why it burns blue. I like the fact it pumps out lots of heat but it looks horrible and during the day you can’t even see the flames! Not very romantic or relaxing. Just wondering if there is a way to make it burn less efficient or create more orange flame. Thanks….

Leave the gas adjustment alone and simply reduce the air input by partially closing the air shutter located at the end of the burner. There may be a lock screw that needs loosening before you can move the shutter. Adjust it until you are satisfied with a soft yellow tipped flame. If it begins to soot or create an odor, re-adjust the other way slightly to prevent that. Always verify the fireplace damper is open when the decorative logs are on. FYI: home depot (among others) have artificial embers that you can place along the base of the fire to enhance the look, and painting the inside of the fireplace black also enhances the appearance of the flames.

Compressed Natural Gas is the most common alternative fuel as many cities and governments have converted used it to power their diesel buses and trucks.

Advantages

Very easy on the engine, giving longer service life and lower maintenance costs.
Reduces the demand for finite petroleum supply
Reduces exhaust emission pollution
Improves fuel consumption and engine efficiency. When CNG and air in the right proportions are brought together, they mix thoroughly and rapidly, thereby improving the combustion efficiency, while the engine stays clean internally
Dry gaseous fuel does not dilute the lubricating oil, thus saving on oil filters and oil chargers

Disadvantages

Driving complaints due to loss of power with CNG. Dynamometer tests indicate that CNG-fuelled vehicles have 10-15% lower power output than petrol engines.
Increased exhaust-valve wear in CNG-operated vehicles are anticipated due to the drying effect of the gaseous fuel
Limited service availability
High cost of conversion
The additional weight of CNG cylinders does pose a problem
Countries who have more stringent regulations on exhaust gases would require retarding the timing even more and this would decrease power output and fuel efficaintcy.
